Siem Reap : The name Siem Reap means the 'Defeat of Siam' , reference to today’s Thailand and refers to a centuries-old bloodbath, commemorated in stone in the celebrated bas relief carvings of the monuments. Angkor Wat being it's most famous. Other than the town of Siem Reap, my tour guide Ros Phansy took me out to the more quiet and carefree side of Siem Reap

Bhutan 2009 : Bhutan, "Land of the Thunder Dragon" is the last remaining Buddhist Kingdom in this world. It is landlocked between India to the south and China to the North. To me, it is also the land of "Happy Dogs and Cats". During this trip, I only stayed in the Western regions of the country. The real country, I was told lies to the east and to the north. That will be a trip for the next visit.

Ta Phrom : Built by Jayavarman VII for his mother and consecrated in 1186, Ta Phrom was the centrepiece of the city of more than 10,000 people and was also an active Buddhist monastery. The most interesting about this place are the silk-cotton trees - in some places, they've displaced the walls completely, leaving their roots to form the archways and rooves that were once made of stone. Ta Phrom is about as atmospheric as Angkor gets and it is the highlight of my visit. It was made even more famous by the movie Tomb Raider.

Killing Fields : Two million people were killed between 1975 - 1979 in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge. These are the photos of Choeung Ek Memorial. The killing fields were essentially ad hoc places of executions and dumping grounds for the dead. Choeung Ek was an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, but during the civil war time, it was one of the infamous killing fields. It was estimated that 17,000 men, women and children, most of whom had first suffered through interrogation, torture and deprivation in the famous S-21 Prison (no the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. The most compelling thing was that when I strolled through the site, you can see still see bone fragments on the pathway.

This is a stalk reminder of those people who's crave for self interest and don't care about others
